Tsavo West & Amboseli - August 2025

Join Tracey on this photography tour to two amazing Kenya National Parks, Tsavo West & Amboseli. One renowned for it’s rich red soil and the other the big ‘Tuskers’ with a backdrop of the magnificent Kilimanjaro. This tour is now fully booked.

Let’s go shoot:

We will spend full days out in both National Parks to ensure we are given the best photographic opportunities and sightings. We have two vehicles so everyone will have a row to themselves.

  • Monday 17th August 2026

After breakfast, drive to Amboseli National Park. Arid looking as Amboseli is, it has historically supported both game and the Masai that kept their herds of cattle here. It is thanks to the waters that run off Africa's greatest mountain that the apparently dry Amboseli, Kenya's first game sanctuary, is able to support its wildlife. Mount Kilimanjaro broods high over Amboseli, generally cloaked by clouds but appearing in all its snow-shrouded magnificence from time to time. The mountain now provides water for the park, wonderful views and of course the most glorious background for animal photography. Arrive in time for lunch at Ol Tukai Lodge. Afternoon game drive in this scenic and wildlife rich park.

Overnight at OLTUKAI LODGE (Full board).

  • Tuesday 18th August to Saturday 22nd August 2026

Full days in Amboseli National Park with unlimited game drives in search of wildlife.

  • Sunday 23rd August 2026

After breakfast, drive back to Four Points by Sheraton Nairobi Airport where dayrooms will have been reserved for you until strictly 1800HRS. Thereafter, transfer in the hotel's vehicle to Jomo Kenyatta International Airport departure terminal for your onward international flight back home.

    Tsavo West National Park

Located in Kenya's Coast Province, Tsavo West National Park stretches for over 9000 square kilometres and is one of Kenya’s most impressive parks. Tsavo West’s spectacular natural scenery includes volcanic cones, swamps, rocky outcrops and lava flows, mountains, river forests, plains, lakes, natural springs, and wooded grassland. The other-worldly, black, layering Shetani Lava Flows, named after the devil, spreads over the savannah. Other incredible natural attractions include the awe-inspiring Chaimu Crater; the Roaring Rocks, offering panoramic views; and the gorgeous Mzima Springs, the main source of water for the Tsavo River. Animal lovers will enjoy the chance to see highly endangered black rhinos at the Ngulia Rhino Sanctuary, and a list of other animals in the park including large herds of elephants, common waterbuck, eland, buffalo, gerenuk, fringe-eared oryx, impala, and Maasai giraffe.

    Amboseli National Park

Located in the southern reaches of Kenya, the Amboseli National Park is renowned for its excellent variety of wildlife such as Maasai giraffe, elephant, lion and cheetah and not surprisingly it is one of Kenya's most popular parks. The landscape of Amboseli is dominated by the majestic snowcap of Mount Kilimanjaro, as well as open plains, acacia woodland, swamps and the massif of Ol Doinyo Orok. The birding is excellent, especially closer to the lakes and swamps. The park is famous for being the best place in Africa to get close to large herds of elephants among other wildlife species. Other attractions include opportunities to meet the Maasai people and soak up spectacular views of Mount Kilimanjaro, the highest free-standing mountain in the world.
